About Erika
My love for the theatrical began at the age of seven when my mother enrolled me in ballet classes. I went on to study for another sixteen years under the tutelage of instructors from The American Ballet Theatre and England's Royal Ballet. Eventually outgrowing the limited repertoire of classical ballet, I began training as a swing dancer and was an original member of the swing dance team, “The Swinging Hepcats” (under the direction of Denise Phelan) making an appearance on CNN with former partner, Damon Donnelly. I later went on to win a swing dance competition with my former partner Christian Perry, where I was given a scholarship to train at Arthur Murray’s Dance Studio in Sherman Oaks, CA.
Ready for a new challenge, I nourished my flair for the dramatic in musical theatre as co-founder of The West Coast Theatrefest Co., a touring multidisciplinary art installation. As the Artistic Director, I relished in guiding the creative direction of the show and discovered a growing passion for make-up design and the magic with which make-up could accomplish the "final transformation" into a character.
After graduating from a 400-hour Journeyman Program from one of LA's top make-up schools, Make-up Designory (MUD), I have been actively working in Film, Television, Theatre, and Commercials. Currently based in Los Angeles, I work as a freelance Make-up Artist, with skills ranging from Beauty Make-up to Character and Special Make-up Effects.
Among my recent credits, I was the Key Special F/X Make-Up Artist for the HD24P feature “White of Winter”, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and Make-up Department Head on the short film “QIK2JDG”; the first film to be shot with the Viper Filmstream Camera, starring Paris Hilton and Francis Capra.
Hi All,
Just checking in quickly to update the 'ol blog. I have spent most of my computer time over at Facebook lately and thought it was time to show my wee blog some love.
I just finished my third film with 7 Engine 7 Productions this past weekend called "The Morticians" and as always, it was a great time working with Tibor and Bill. Here are a few photos from the shoot - there were lots of fun make-ups to do.

Our "Morticians" Jon Monastero and Stephen Simon.
Here is Tara in her "Corpse" make-up

Here is Tara again, this time in her beauty opened casket burial look.

A photo I snapped during a take.

Our three talented leads

There is some fantastic physical comedy in this film.

This was a fun make-up I got to do on British actor Dave McKimmie who played our "old lady". This is the make-up in progress.
Here is Dave again with make-up almost finished.
And here is Dave in full make-up and costume with our Director Bill Fiala.
Well, that's it for now but I will be back soon with some more updates. I haven't had a computer to scrap on in a while so I am going through withdrawls but will hopefully get back to it very soon. Until next time, have a great week!
E.
